Four Women and Two Men

In the aftermath of the Northridge quake Los Angeles city hall had its foundations shaken. The base of our city civic headquarters was in dire need of foundational earthquake retrofitting.

City Hall is an iconic suture but a small one. In the 1960’s the need for a larger building for the city civic bureaucracy necessitated the creation of City Hall II. A walkway connected the two buildings. City Hall II is a non entity of a building. A white square modernist brick that fulfilled a purely functional role. With the renovation all of the cities major departments including the Mayors office and the City Council necessitated the relocation from City hall to City Hall two. Many of the departments in City hall II would have to be relocated.

One of them was the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs department. The second smallest department in the city it has almost no impact on the life's of most Angeleno’s.
